Urban mobility in Leicester during a pandemic

Prior to the lockdown, Leicester was a city with ambitions to improve urban mobility and encourage more sustainable travel choices. We are now going through unprecedented times arising from the Covid-19 outbreak, public transport usage is being discouraged, with greater take-up of cycling, walking and home working being promoted. So have the city’s ambitions changed and how will this affect local employers, employees, residents of, and visitors to the city?
Changes to event programme due to COVID-19
In light of the current coronavirus protection measures and the implementation of new remote working practices, we’re reconsidering how and when to deliver our events programme for the rest of the year.
The next scheduled event is the Members’ Dinner on 14 May and this will be rescheduled, provisionally to autumn this year although that will be reviewed closer to the time.
As for the next two events, Urban Mobility and Workplace Parking Levy on 12 June and Industrial Strategy Action Plan/Regional Entrepreneurship on 10 July, our plan is to run these events as webinars. Hopefully for our events from September onwards, we will be back to our traditional format but may need to review this.
We will be publishing details of the June and July events on our website and via our social media pages on Twitter and LinkedIn. Invitations with a link to book your place on Eventbrite will also be sent out to subscribers. We hope that you will be able to join us.

Smart Cities – what is Leicester doing and why should your business care?

Where: Leicester Innovation Hub, University of Leicester,128 Regent Road, Leicester, England, LE1 7PA
At this event, LBV will host a debate to discuss the impact of the Smart City strategy and practices on your business. Attendees can find out more about how data collection underpins this strategy, how it is identifying new ways in which to benefit the citizens of Leicester, and how their company could find new business opportunities in a ‘Smart City’.
Space City – March lunchtime meetup
When: 13 March 2020, 12pm-2pm
Where: Nelsons Solicitors, New Walk, Leicester, LE1 6TU
The space sector is the core foundation of the industrial strategy for Leicester, the LLEP local industry strategy prospectus and the Midlands Engine Vision for Growth. This event is an opportunity to hear from Grant Bourhill, CEO of Space Park Leicester about the plans for Space Park and how your organisation could benefit from it.
