East Midlands exports rise 10% to £20bn, figures reveal

Figures have shown that exports from East Midlands were worth more than £20 billion in 2017, up by 10 per cent on the previous year.
And in 2018 the East Midlands has already exported more than £10.7 billion worth of goods, putting the region on track for a record-breaking year of exports.
The East Midlands is already exporting drink around the world, from Colombia to Cameroon.
Regional winners from across the country are announced

The regional winners in the National Apprenticeship Awards 2018 are being announced at nine regional ceremonies taking place over the next three weeks. The Leicester Marriott Hotel in the East Midlands was the venue for the third regional ceremony, with 17 winners and highly commended employers and apprentices from across a range of industries – including housing, IT, surveying and banking – picking up awards.
Local award winners included Edward Cooper Young Chartered Surveyors from Mountsorrel which won SME employer of the year and its employee, Shivam Radia, scooped up the Rising Star Award. (more…)
Leicester named UK’s third most entrepreneurial city

Leicester has been named the third most entrepreneurial city in the UK – with almost 10,000 new companies set up last year.
