Pathways to Better Work - Improving Social Mobility in Leicestershire
Event details:
When: Jan 21 from 5:30pm to 8pm GMT
Where: Peter Jackson Lecture Theatre, Brookfield Campus
Join us for a Fellows & Friends forum and networking event exploring how we can open up pathways to better work to improve social mobility and support Inclusive Growth across Leicestershire – hosted by RSA Fellow, Tobias Gould.
With new devolution deals on the horizon and an £8Million Connect to Work service launching for Leicester, Leicestershire & Rutland, this is the moment to get ahead of the agenda.
The Royal Society of Art’s Inclusive Growth Commission developed ‘The Opportunity Escalator’ with the East Midlands Combined County Authority in Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire.
The Opportunity Escalator is a practical tool that supports social mobility and helps people move into better-paid, more secure work by matching their existing skills with higher-paying job opportunities.
Now we’re bringing this approach to Leicestershire.
We’ll share research and experience from our work on the Inclusive Growth agenda – with a chance to meet key local stakeholders.
And we want to hear your views on:
· How the Opportunity Escalator can work locally
· What Inclusive Growth means for Leicestershire
· How businesses, colleges and support organisations can improve social mobility and help people move up into better jobs
This is your chance to shape the conversation before Inclusive Growth becomes a core part of any new devolution deal for the region.
Join us for light refreshments from 5:30pm for a 6pm start. With plenty of time for discussion and networking opportunities following the main event.
Register today and have your say on Leicestershire’s economic future.
