LBV board director awarded MBE

15 January 2021

Anjuu Trevedi, Leicestershire Business Voice (LBV) Board Director and Head of Regional Business Engagement at the University of Leicester, has been awarded an MBE in the 2021 New Year Honours list, for services to business innovation and to the economy in Leicestershire.

Anjuu takes her place among 1,239 recipients from all four nations of the United Kingdom recognised for the extraordinary contributions they have made, above and beyond the call of duty in their work.

Anjuu said: “I am absolutely delighted and honoured to have received this award for services to business innovation and the economy in Leicestershire. I am really passionate about this and because it recognises the investments the University has made to strengthen university-business relationships with companies on our doorstep through initiatives such as the Leicester Innovation Hub and Space Park Leicester.

“I am also pleased that the award also indirectly recognises all the wonderful people and organisations I work closely with in Leicester and Leicestershire such as the LLEP, Innovate UK and LBV, who have been tirelessly supporting our economy for the last 20 years.

“LBV was one of the first organisations I actively engaged with when starting at the University 12 years ago because it enables me to engage with key stakeholders as well as gain valuable insights into local business challenges and opportunities.”

Robin Pointon, Chair of LBV commented: “On behalf of the LBV board, we’re delighted that Anjuu’s drive and ambition for the Leicestershire business community has been deservedly recognised with this prestigious award. Anjuu is a key member of the team of local business leaders on our LBV board and plays a major role in helping us to continue to be a real voice for local members in this challenging time for UK business.”

Anjuu Trevedi also represents the University of Leicester on the LLEP (Leicester and Leicestershire Enterprise Partnership) Economic Recovery Cell and Innovation Board which looks to build local economic growth and prosperity across the county, and on the Chamber of Commerce Coronavirus Advisory Group.

President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Leicester, Professor Nishan Canagarajah added: “Anjuu has been an ‘unsung hero’ until now, consistently providing exceptional support to our academics, enterprise teams and the wider industry in Leicester, Leicestershire and the region. She has done a phenomenal job of connecting our University expertise with businesses within the region. She thoroughly deserves this recognition, and should feel very proud of her great accomplishments.”
