Free Cake Friday at Leicester Innovation Hub

Network with the Innovation Hub Team, enterprising academics, local innovators and innovation support groups at Free Cake Fridays.
Free Cake Friday provides an excellent opportunity to network with the Innovation Hub Team, enterprising academics from University of Leicester, innovators from local companies, start-ups, regional businesses and innovation support organisations in a friendly and informal environment. Talks will take place throughout the day which will discuss how entrepreneurship and innovation can transform the society we live in.
Feel free to pop in at any time between 10am and 4pm.
Highlight of this event:
• 10.30am – Learn how lean engineering project management practices can reduce resource consumption and enhance profit margins. With Dr Karim Ahmed
• 11am – Discuss with the owners of Giving World and see how this social enterprise helps good causes while reducing waste through the redistribution of surplus goods
• 12pm – Sumaya Jamaale will provide an outline of her “Innovation for Good’ programme recently launched to advance sustainable business growth and position businesses for long-term competitiveness by reducing waste, decreasing energy use and making cost-savings.
• 12.30pm – Prof Andy Abbott and Shannon Stodd will highlight why waste should be seen not as a burden but rather another revenue source
Innovate UK’s KTP Adviser for the East Midlands – Kamran Hussein – will be attending Free Cake Friday and available to speak to companies interested in securing innovation funding through KTP (Knowledge Transfer Partnership) and find out about the application process and support available.
From 2pm onwards, see first-hand the progress made since July 2017 presentation from Dr Jose’ Miguel Rojas and Dr Jan Oliver Ringert and their Model Autonomous Vehicle (there will be demos with a miniature car!). Please see link to BBC interview on this exciting project.
