Dr Nik Kotecha OBE DL appointed as the first LBV Ambassador
28 January 2026
Leicestershire Business Voice (LBV), the premier business advocacy group for Leicester and Leicestershire, has appointed Dr Nik Kotecha OBE DL as the first Ambassador in its new advocacy programme.
As the founding Ambassador, Dr Kotecha will champion LBV’s mission, strengthen connections across the business community, and support the development of LBV’s programme of events, projects and campaigns.
Dr Kotecha’s company, RandalSun Capital Ltd is a member of LBV and he will act as an Ambassador, raising the profile of the organisation and enabling deeper engagement with senior business leaders, institutions, and decision-makers.
The LBV Ambassador programme brings together a network of trusted business leaders, passionate about Leicester and Leicestershire, and committed to strengthening the collective voice of business. Ambassadors will champion LBV’s mission, help shape the programme of events and policy priorities, and strengthen connections across the region’s business community. They will act as advocates for LBV’s values, promote collaboration and help ensure that the voice of business is heard where it matters most.
Dr Kotecha established global generic medicines manufacturer and supplier Morningside Pharmaceuticals in the 1990s as a garage start-up. Under his leadership and that of his team, Loughborough-based Morningside grew to become one of Leicestershire’s Top 100 companies, with a vast international footprint, having exported to more than 120 countries since inception.
Alongside his entrepreneurial successes, Dr Kotecha is also an award-winning business leader, philanthropist and influencer, who in 2017 with his wife Moni, established the Randal Charitable Foundation.
In addition to his business and philanthropic interests, he is also a Pro-Chancellor of De Montfort University and is actively involved with each of Leicestershire’s universities. Dr Kotecha is the former co-chair of the Loughborough Town Deal Board, and formerly chaired CBI, East Midlands. He was a long-serving member of the LLEP, and chaired both the Investment and Innovation Boards over many years. Today, he holds a number of national Board leadership roles including the King’s Trust and the Centre for Social Justice.
Having exited Morningside Pharmaceuticals in 2022, he turned his focus to RandalSun Capital Ltd, an innovative investment company he founded and chairs, with global investments in a range of fast-growing businesses and sectors.
Dr Kotecha was appointed a Deputy Lieutenant for Leicestershire in 2022. He lives in Leicestershire with his family, and alongside family time, his interests include economics, politics, mentoring businesses and a deep passion for ‘giving back’.

Commenting on his new role, Dr Kotecha said: “I’ve always been passionate about the need for a strong, co-ordinated voice from across the business community in Leicestershire. It’s never been more important than now that the concerns and opportunities that businesses see are heard by decision-makers and those shaping policy.
“Leicestershire has a dynamic, resilient and innovative business community. Ours is a diverse and innovative community too – and the contribution we make to the UK economy is significant, by any measure.
“Leicestershire Business Voice provides a potentially powerful mechanism through which we can contribute to shaping an even stronger regional economy, and I’d invite those with energy and passion for Leicestershire businesses to consider stepping forward as Ambassadors too. Together, a collective voice can and will make a positive impact for business growth.”
Sue Tilley, Chair of LBV, added: “Dr Kotecha is a highly respected business leader with a deep and longstanding commitment to Leicester and Leicestershire. His integrity, leadership and contribution to economic growth and innovation are widely recognised.
“His appointment strengthens Leicestershire Business Voice at a pivotal time, and I am confident he will help ensure our diverse business community’s voice is heard clearly and constructively, while encouraging wider participation from businesses across the county.”
